In 1908 Brooklands race track in Surrey held its first official motorcycle race. Between then and 1939 (with a break for the first world war) many races and speed record runs were held. It was a concrete, banked oval of over 2.5 miles. the motorcycles that evolved for speed triials here were generally longer than their equivalentg boardtrack racers. Most also ran on methanol towards the end of the Brooklands era.
The Phantom EG is an attempt to reconnect with the feeling of those machines. the originals are rare and in museums. Most would be very difficult to ride on modern roads due to the fueling, gearing (if they had gears) and brakes. So we created the Phantom EG so that it would be possible to experience what those pioneers of speed felt.
